“Growing Jazz
in San Antonio,” KRTU’s signature
initiative, is helping fulfill our mission
of giving back to the community. This
program allows K-12 grade
students to experience jazz firsthand
through attending live concerts and
providing multiple opportunities for
students to receive personal instruction
from professional local musicians and
clinicians.
As America’s oldest and truest original
art form, jazz deserves much more
recognition and funding than it typically
receives. Because commercial radio does not
consistently support straight-ahead jazz,
it’s up to non-commercial stations like KRTU
to bring jazz into the community. As a
listener-supported radio station, you play
an important role in our efforts to keep
jazz alive and well in San Antonio.
“Growing
Jazz in San Antonio” delivers the highest
quality jazz to the next generation of fans
and arts supporters, a group that needs
cultivation in order to ensure a bright
future for jazz in San Antonio. KRTU has
decided to invest in the community, and we
are able to do so because of the dedicated
support of our members.
Now is your chance to support “Growing
Jazz in San Antonio." Please take a moment

and help KRTU cultivate the rich San Antonio
jazz scene we have all grown to love.
"Funding
for this program was provided in part by the
Gilbert and Ruth Lang Charitable Fund of the San
Antonio Area Foundation. For more than 40
years, the San Antonio Area Foundation, a
publicly supported philanthropic institution,
has been administering donors’ funds and
granting gifts from those funds to worthy
charitable causes that significantly enhance the
quality of life in the communities they serve.
This year, the San Antonio Area Foundation has
awarded KRTU $4,312 in support of “Growing Jazz
in San Antonio." |
